Decorated leather and hide techniques - Sculpture
Using blades, previously dyed leather is split to give it volume. Thanks to this technique, it’s possible to give the material the shape of scales that are more or less deep, reproducing animal skins such as python or cobra. Unless you let yourself be tempted by whimsical scales – there are twenty references to choose from!
Cracking, on the other hand, is a technique for cutting leather without losing material and makes it possible to make fringes, checkerboard or diamond patterns. Highlight the underside of your two-tone leather thanks to this process.
Note that you can combine the scale sculpting with a scale print obtained by transfer for more realism.
